Letter from the President

Greetings!

​

As a point of inspiration from Cornel West’s thoughts on love and justice: “Never forget that justice is what love looks like in public.”  Our 2023-2024 year is centered on the power and need of both justice and joy in our support of our students.  The CSSO Association invites thought partners, co-conspirators, and advocates for justice and joy in our support of students and the broader community.

In the Fall Symposium, vice presidents of Student Services and district leaders for Student Services will gather to strategize and organize around the year’s priorities.  Together with our System Chancellor’s Office, we will frame our discussion within the important momentum of our various initiatives. Specifically, how do we live and share joy as a critical aspect of our hearing, our building, and our happiness.  Both the joy we must share, and at times, the joy that we need.

In the Spring, we invite leaders of Student Services at all levels of our organization to the 2024 Student Services Leadership Conference.  As a community, we will engage in large sessions, smaller sessions and workshops that focus on such topics as self-care, equity, praxis, justice-centered policy work projects about clarity of purpose, our “why,” sustaining joy in challenging times.
